Job Summary and Qualifications
The Patient Collections Specialist is responsible for assisting in verifying insurance co-pays, payment posting for patient’s accounts, counseling patients on insurance benefits and co-payments. The Onsite Payment Collector position has the possibility to work 1 of 3 shifts at a local hospital.
In this role you will:
- Verify patient insurance
- Post payments to patient account
- Arrange for repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations Submit money collected at the end of each shift.
- Data entry (knowledge of Excel spreadsheets) and scanning documents. • Answer customer questions regarding their accounts
- Speak with patients face to face using excellent customer service abilities
- Reliable transportation is a requirement
- Will be required to train and understand all policies and procedures for all facilities including Inpatient Financial Counseling.
- Cross train on reports and other duties as determined by Management.
- Provide coverage for Team Leads for administrative days scheduled.
- Schedule of hours assigned will be provided 1 week in advance. You will be required to be available to work the days and shifts listed on the schedule unless PTO has been requested in accordance to policy.
- The location will change as business needs arise. You agree to work the location assigned to you by Management.
- You will be accessible by telephone during your scheduled time and will be required to respond within 30 minutes to any attempts of contact.
Qualifications:
- High School or GED or related experience in lieu.
- Minimum one year related experience preferred, preferably in healthcare.
