Description

We are seeking a certified medical coder with outpatient experience to include surgical and/or Evaluation and Management coding for a large Orthopaedic practice. The qualified candidate will participate in ensuring that charges are coded and consistent with documentation and applicable coding policies.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing thorough, timely and accurate ICD-10 and CPT coding for all Evaluation and Management and/or surgical accounts

Contacts providers/clinical staff to clarify information when necessary

Coder is responsible for meeting daily production goal and quality goal by averaging a 90% or above accuracy rate on a quarterly basis

Maintains and expands knowledge of coding and sequencing guidelines to ensure that all healthcare information is accurately assigned

Along with coding guidelines, must possess specific knowledge of third-party payer reimbursement methodologies and medical procedures in order to make sure claims are efficiently processed and paid

Must possess excellent communication, prioritization, and time management skills

Must be able to work both cooperatively and independently

Hours are Monday Friday 8:00 5:00

Typical Physical Demands:

Position requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is also required. Employee must have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports.

**MUST HAVE CPC certification and at least 1 year experience**

Requirements

Education/ Experience:

1-year minimum experience, on the job with outpatient physician services to include E/M and/or surgical coding

Must hold current CPC

Successful completion of nationally accredited coding certificate program, approved coding program preferred (i.e. AHIMA or AAPC)

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

 

Pay: $19.00- 24.00 an hour
