Mark Christensen, MD, Director of Emergency Medicine at Cullman Regional, has been named the new Director of Emergency Medical Services.

Christensen has been serving as Director of Emergency Medicine since 2019 and was named as one of five 2020 Facility Medical Directors of the Year by Alteon Health. His years of experience include serving as Emergency Medicine Physician, Hospitalist/ER Hybrid, Assistant Director of Emergency Medicine and Associate Director of Emergency Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and the Medical Association State of Alabama.

Christensen is board-certified and received his medical degree at the UAB School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama DCH Regional Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center, where he filled the role of Chief Resident and ER Fellow. Throughout his time in school he also served as Firefighter and EMT at the Toney Volunteer Fire Department.
