The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association has designated Brookwood Baptist Medical Center as the only Honor Roll Elite+ hospital in the Birmingham area in the treatment of stroke.

The Honor Roll Elite+ designation signifies the hospital has been recognized for at least a year of 75 percent or higher achievement of door-to-needle times within 60 minutes and 50 percent achievement of door-to-needle times within 45 minutes in applicable stroke patients.

By meeting this criteria as the only hospital in the Birmingham area and one of only two hospitals statewide, Brookwood Baptist Medical Center has established the fastest door-to-needle time in administering potentially lifesaving t-PA among Birmingham area hospitals. The list of award-winning hospitals appears in a congratulatory advertisement in the 2018 U.S. News & World Report "Best Hospitals" issue
