Laura Kezar, MD, who is a professor and associate dean for students at UAB School of Medicine, is now also serving as the Physiatrist for the Aspire Physical Recovery Center at Cahaba where she is doing rounds twice a week.

Kezar specializes in musculoskeletal medicine, chronic pain syndromes including pain after spinal cord injury, complex regional pain syndrome, and neuropathic pain disorders. Because she follows Aspire patients closely through their rehabilitation process, she may recognize a change in the patient's condition sooner and suggest changes allowing the patient to continue rehab uninterrupted by a possible hospital readmission.

Aspire Physical Recovery Center at Cahaba River is a new care model that specializes in short term rehabilitation.
