Upcoming: Run to Support Free Medical Clinic

On August 20th, Equal Access Birmingham (EAB), a free medical clinic run by medical students from the UAB School of Medicine, is hosting the 3rd annual Heart + Sole 5K Run at the UAB Campus Green to raise money to support providing healthcare to the uninsured. We anticipate at least 300 runners to participate. All proceeds will support the operations of Equal Access Birmingham through the EAB Gift and Endowment Fund.

EAB works with an interdisciplinary team of UAB volunteer physicians, medical students, and other healthcare professionals and students to provide free medical care to medically uninsured or under-insured Birmingham residents. We staff two clinics each week, an Acute Care Clinic on Wednesday and a Chronic Care Clinic on Sundays at the Church of the Reconciler on the North side of Birmingham. We also hold monthly health screenings, monthly Mental Health Clinic, and weekly health education sessions at M-Power Ministries. EAB strives to promote health and wellness in the Birmingham community.

We appreciate anyone who considers making a donation. All donations are 100% tax deductible, and because we work on a volunteer basis every penny goes to support the services that we provide.

To learn more about the race, you can contact Equal Access Birmingham at (205) 259-8836. Or email Shejuti Paul paul0217@uab.edu and/or Ali Simpson amsimp@uab.edu
