Larry Dye, MD Receives John Burrett, MD Award

The CVA Medical Education Foundation held its 11th annual Cardiovascular Update Conference at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham Hotel in Birmingham in February.

Each year at the conference a physician receives the John Burrett, MD award. This award is given to an individual who has contributed significantly to the advancement of cardiovascular healthcare in Alabama

The award is named for John Burrett, MD who was the first cardiologist to practice in the state of Alabama and the founder of Cardiovascular Associates.

The year, the award went to Larry Dye, MD. Dye, who practiced for over 40 years with CVA, earned his medical degree from University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1972 and went on to do his residency, followed by a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Alabama Medical Center.
