The Alabama Neurological Institute, under the direction of Camilo R. Gomez, MD, MBA, has recently established the Apokyn Regional Induction Center (ARIC). The goal of the ARIC is to manage the initiation process of Apokyn® therapy for physicians in the surrounding area. Apokyn therapy is the only therapy available in the US for the acute, intermittent treatment of immobilizing 'off' episodes associated with advanced Parkinson's disease. In conjunction with a dedicated nurse specialist, the ARIC is designed to complement the established treatment already prescribed by the referring physician. This clinic will provide referring doctors with the flexibility to continue to function as the patient's primary physician while offering their patients a potential solution to their debilitating 'off' episodes associated with Parkinson's disease.
