Eben Rosenthal, MD, UAB associate professor of surgery, has been named the holder of the Julius N. Hicks Chair of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Rosenthal, who completed a fellowship in reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University after receiving his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, has been instrumental in the development of the Head and Neck Cancer Research Program at UAB.
Anupam Agarwal, MD, who is a professor of medicine in the Division of Nephrology at UAB and the director of the Nephrology Research and Training Center, has been appointed to the Thomas E. Andreoli Professorship in Nephrology. He earned a medical degree from Kasturba Medical College at Mangalore University in India, and completed fellowships at the University of Minnesota Hospitals and the University of Florida.
Loring Rue III, MD, professor of surgery and chief of the Section of Trauma, Burns and Surgical Critical Care, Division of General Surgery, has been appointed to the John H. Blue Chair of General Surgery at UAB. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, followed by residency training at UAB and a post-residency at Hampton (Va.) General Hospital.
